Bayleaf: Brand Invention
The purpose of this project was to explore brand creation using an artificial campaign proposal and designing the packaging for the campaign’s project. The product could be anything, the only limits were that we had to create four unique packages, one of which had to be a series, an in-store display, as well as a pitch.
My campaign took full advantage of the free choice behind what we were selling, and I chose to create a brand for a non-existent product. In the world of Pokémon there are purchasable medicinal items for your Pokémon, and I decided to create my brand as if it were a company in this universe looking to sell holistic medicines.
Ideation
Concept One: Fauna
The first concept was to use the patterns from Pokemon in the Jhoto region to help identify the uses of the medicine. The Potions would be patterned around Chikorita’s three stage evolution, specifically their neck patterns, the Heals were based off of Pokemon of certain types in the region, and the Revive was based of Togepi’s shell pattern
Concept Two: Flora
While I loved the first concept, specifically the design for the revive; I did end up settling on the Flora route. The potions and heals were based off of the berries that exist in the game, making it more cohesive than the previous. Not to mention they offered a better pallet to work with, and highlighted the “all natural” feel that I wanted to go for.
